Seblewongel was given for adoption by a neighbor named Ephram. Her adoptive mother came to Ethiopia several times and the sisters were able to see Seblewongel.

3 sisters were placed in SOS Infants in Ethiopia near Megenagna Addis Ababa: Kasanesh, Frehiwot and Seblewongel Tekle. They were 13, 10 and 2 years old. Their parents were poor and a good neighbor facilitated their entry to the orphanage. The two older were in Ward B and the youngest was in Ward A.
After some time a lady came and adopted the youngest, Seblewongel, along with one boy named Michael who was 5-7 years old. Another woman went with them either as a nanny or as an Amharic teacher.
The adoptive parent’s name most probably was “Odel.” She was from France. She brought Seblewongel to Ethiopia for two consecutive visits and the sisters were able to see her. On the last visit the lady gave her email to Kasanesh, who tried to connect with her. However, since she did not have an email account at the time, a bigger girl in the house helped her to connect with the adoptive parent. Later she lost contact with that specific girl and she also lost the paper she has the email on. Seblewongel might remember her siblings
The parents were alive when the 3 sisters were put in the orphanage.
