Things to remember while searching…..

Adoptive families and Ethiopian families often have completely different information about their child, so it’s helpful to view multiple entries with various combinations of information. It’s safe to assume the information you have could be wrong and proceed accordingly. For example:

Sometimes information is lost when a child is adopted. Details such as the age of a child are often estimated. Therefore, it’s best to view children listed who are 3-5 years older and younger than you believe the child to be. An Ethiopian mother may know her child was born in a certain year, but the adoptive family may have been told the child was born much later.

In addition to age, other details can be lost. There are cases where children are thought to have been adopted to one country, only to be adopted to another. Make no assumptions; check all possible receiving countries for your child.

Be sure to view listings with UNKNOWN information as well. All dates use the Western calendar. Sibling searches are posted too.

The SEARCH GRID is the best way to sort and view the database quickly.

Only current, open cases are listed in the database; solved cases are removed.
