Male two year old adopted to Canada in 2009. Ethiopian Maternal Aunt named Hiwot is searching for her nephew adopted to Canada in 2009. Child’s name is Cherinet Animut. He was two years old when adopted, and his mother and father were both deceased at the time of adoption. His mother’s request before death was that Hiwot care for her small child Cherinet, and sadly he was taken for adoption without Hiwot’s knowledge. She is desperate to have an update on Cherinet. Cherinet is originally from the Sebeta Area, Alem Gena City, Kebele 2 / Kebele 02. UPDATE: it’s believed that the child’s adoptive parents may have contact with the paternal side of the Ethiopian family but they are withholding access from the mother’s side.

Cherinet Animut was born December 24, 2007. His mother, Yewudit Zeleke, died December 25, 2008. His father Animut Tesfaye died July 9, 2009.
Cherinet was given to orphanage when he was 2 years old.
Cherinet may remember his elder sisters Mahilet / Mahalet and aunt Hiwot Zeleke.
Before dying, Cherinet’s mother, Yewudit, requested that her sister Hiwot care for the child when she passed away. Cherinet was taken for adoption without Hiwot’s knowledge and she very much wants to know his current condition in Canada and to have contact with him and his adoptive family. The adoptive family may be in contact with another family member related by marriage, however Hiwot is not receiving any updates through this person. She is desperate to know her nephew is ok and for him to know of his cousins.

The child was taken without the knowledge of his closest blood relative, his Aunt Hiwot. From Hiwot:
“My elder sister raised me after my father and mother dead. But she also became sick and died following her husband. She talked to me in her last word to take care her child.”

Father: Animut Tesfaye Wakena – deceased before the adoption. Cherinet father Tesfaye grew up with his uncle called Wakana. Wakana was also dead after the Cherinet’s adoption.
Mother: Yewudit Zeleke – deceased before the adoption. Hiwot, Yewudit and another sister grew up with their grandparents in Dire Dawa.
