Adoptive Parent searching for Ethiopian Family of girl Hanisa from Jimma born 2008. She was found in Jimma in 2011 and adopted to the USA in 2012 through Adoption Advocates International (WA) via Kidane Mihret. Hanisa’s right leg was bent at the knee and she walked with a limp.

Give information about child’s Ethiopian family, if known. Nothing is known about Hanissa’s family. There is a possible genetic trait which would make family more recognizable. Without surgery she would have been very stooped and would have had great difficulty walking.
Additional information When we first met her at age 3, she had an obvious limp that appeared to be caused by a hip issue or a shortened leg. Her right leg didn’t straighten completely but stayed bent at the knee. Doctors believe she suffered from rickets and possibly another illness before coming to the orphanage.
