On January 28th, 1996, an unidentified man came with the approximately 3 year old child to stay at the Guinflé Hotel in Addis Ababa. He locked the child in room 3 and disappeared, abandoning him. The child was placed in Toukoul Orphanage and was adopted to France in 1997 through Les Amis Enfants du Monde. He has a mole on his left leg.

Additional information about the abandonment An unidentified man came with Daniel to stay at the Guinflé Hotel in woreda13 kebele 02, district of Addis Ababa on January 28 around 11 p.m. He locked the child in room 3 and disappeared, abandoning him. The hotel owner reported the case to the Woreda 13 police who, despite their investigation, were unable to find and identify the person. On February 8, 1996, the police entrusted the child to Sister Marie Joseph of Kidane Mehrete, who in turn entrusted him to Toukoul Orphanage.
